AC Milan and Sassuolo discussing Locatelli-like deal for Berardi
AC Milan would like to sign Domenico Berardi from Sassuolo in a similar deal like the one used for the transfer of Locatelli to Juventus.
The recent goal draught has once more highlighted the need of AC Milan to bring in players who can guarantee a certain numbers of goals and assists. Sassuolo star Domenico Berardi is such a player. The Italian right winger has scored 14 goals and assisted another 14 in 28 Serie A appearances this season.
Domenico Berardi and Marco Asensio top AC Milan’s list of targets for the right wing but the Italian is more feasible. The Rossoneri will shortly have a second meeting with Sassuolo to negotiate the transfer of the €30 million rated Berardi reports Gazzetta dello Sport.
AC Milan are not willing to match Sassuolo’s asking price but the two clubs are negotiating a particular formula, similar to the one used a year ago by Juventus to sign Manuel Locatelli. AC Milan would like to sign Berardi on an initial loan move with the obligation to make the transfer permanent for a lower fee. However, Sassuolo could profit from a serious of bonuses that would bring the total fee close to their asking price.
Coach Stefano Pioli and the management consider Berardi a perfect player for their 4-2-3-1 game system. The 27-year-old has vast experience in Serie A and would be extremely useful to respect UEFA’s squad list restrictions on domestic players.
At the same time the Rossoneri are monitoring the market for alternatives. Club Brugge duo Noa Lang and Charles De Ketelaere have been scouted on a number of occasions. Lang has a similar price tag and can play on both wings while De Ketelaere could replace Brahim Diaz next season.
